For those of you that have moved a long distance this will sound very familiar. Moving your car long distances is tiresome if you need to drive your car, along with transporting your family, pets and luggage. However, there are several options, such as car movers that enable you to move your car safe and efficient.
Air transport. Air transport is the fastest and safest option. Auto movers can arrange for your car to be transported by state or private air carriers to the nearest airport to you destination city. This method is the fastest and has the least amount of damage risk during handling. However, it costs the most. Also, you will have to pick your vehicle yourself from the airport. Some moving companies may provide the facility of home delivery, but this will result in additional cost and more time delay.
Rail freight. The second option is rail freight where your vehicle can be transported as rail cargo. This method is also relatively expensive but it is faster and safe. However, the main problem is that very few auto transportation companies give the facility of one-time vehicle transport by rail. Though some companies may agree to transport your car, there may be less insurance coverage for the trip.
Car moving. The third option is road shipment with an auto mover. This is the cheapest method and most popular way to transport your vehicle. The main benefit of road transport (apart from the cost) is that door-to-door delivery is possible. Another option for pick-up is terminal-to-terminal transport where your car is transferred to a terminal or port near your city. From the terminal there are two options: either you can pick your car yourself, or you can ask the company to deliver it to your door in a smaller truck. This solves the problem of big trucks not being able to enter into small streets.
No matter what option you decide, there are numerous possibilities to choose from when shipping your car.
